Barely recovering from the devastation caused by landslide last month, East Jaiñtia Hills district once again has to deal with this disaster on National Highway 6.
Landslides triggered by incessant rain have brought traffic movement to a standstill at Narpuh and Sonapur today morning.
East Jaiñtia Hills police informed that work to clear the landslides has been going on nonstop all day.
Till filing of this report, the road has not be cleared yet, while a police team from Umkiang PP has been on the road delivering essential supplies to the stranded passengers on the national highway.
Police has also advised commuter passing through the route to drive cautiously and any emergency to call 112.
Meanwhile, landslide also occurred along Shnongpdeng to Darrang road.
Tourists visiting Shnongpdeng today are advised to stay back until the weather condition improves.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall is very likely to continue over most places in the state till June 19, the India Meteorological Department said.
