One Lascretice Lyngdoh, hailing from Maikhuli village under Umtyrnga area of Ri-Bhoi, today lodged an FIR against the village headman, Kleden Sangma, accusing him of assaulting him and his son with the intention to kill them.
The alleged incident occurred on March 16 in the village.
In the FIR filed at the Pillangkata Police Outpost, Lyngdoh stated that he and his son, Donald Dern Lyngdoh went to visit land owned by his wife at Maikhuli village near the forest gate. Lyngdoh suspected that a portion of his wife’s property had been encroached upon and made inquiries into this whereupon a group of people he questioned intimated the headman.
Lyngdoh also stated that Sangma assaulted both Lyngdoh and his son with weapons. The victims, however, were able to flee and went directly to the police outpost at Pillangkata from where they were taken for a medical checkup. Lyngdoh received injuries to his ribs in the assault. The son was severely injured.
Lyngdoh claimed that the owner of the adjacent property is Sangma’s mother-in-law and it is she who has encroached on property belonging to the Lyngdoh family.
