Shillong, Jul 1: Shillong Lajong FC today bid farewell to Saveme Tariang and Rudra Ved, who are moving to the Indian Super League (ISL).
Though SLFC did not mention where they are heading, the internet has been talking about their move to FC Goa for some time now.
Tariang (23) joined Lajong in 2019 from Lumpariat in Jowai and has been with the side on its journey back into the Indian Football League (formerly called the I-League) through the Second Division in 2022-23 and then the IFL proper from 2023 onwards. He has featured in 34 IFL matches as well as the Super Cup and Durand Cup.
Saveme has also represented Meghalaya at the junior and senior levels and won the U-17 boys’ Subroto Cup with H Elias Memorial Higher Secondary School in 2019.
A defender with a physical presence and mental ability that should make him competitive even in the ISL, Saveme has been impressing year after year in the Lajong set-up.
Equally noteworthy is Rudra, whose journey with Lajong has been much shorter. He moved to Shillong only last year from the Bangalore-based South United. The 26-year-old played in all 14 of Lajong’s IFL 2025-26 matches and also appeared for the Reds during the Durand Cup last year.
Together, Rudra and Saveme were part of the SLFC squad that conceded just 12 goals in IFL 2025-26, which was the fewest of any club, which helped them to an historic second place finish.
The club paid tribute to them both and wished them the best for the future.
