Shillong, Sep 18: The senior men’s selection committee of the Meghalaya Cricket Association has announced the names of 15 players and five standbys chosen to represent the team in the first two Ranji Trophy matches of the 2025-26 BCCI domestic cricket season.
One of the state’s most prolific batters, Kishan Lyngdoh will lead the team once again, with fast bowler Akash Kumar Chaudhary the vice-captain. Moisten Ch Marak has been named as head coach.
Meanwhile, Ajay Duhan has been retained for a second season as one of Meghalaya’s guest professional players, while Rahul Dalal has been roped in as a new face. The appointment of both has received BCCI approval. Rahul, a batter born in Haryana, has previous experience of playing professionally in the North East, having represented Arunachal Pradesh until 2023-24.
Meghalaya are in the plate group this year along with Bihar, Arunachal, Sikkim, Manipur and Mizoram. Meghalaya will play Mizoram in the first match from 15 October and Sikkim in the second from 25 October. Both games are set to be held in Shillong. The top two teams from the round robin stage will face off in the plate group final.
The preparatory camp for the Meghalaya team will begin on 27 September and conclude on 11 October in Shillong. Players in the 15-member squad, the standbys and support staff from outside Shillong should report in Shillong on 26 September.
