The Regulation and Administration of Land Bill 2020 requires further examination by a select committee, the opposition said in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) today, which the Chief Executive Member accepted.
The bill could not be passed today after the opposition urged the CEM, Titosstarwell Chyne, not to take a hasty decision in passing it without first referring it to a select committee for further examination.
The CEM, however, set a 10-day deadline for MDCs to give their views and suggestions before a special session that will be convened to pass the bill.
The committee will be headed by Chyne and include PN Syiem, L Blah, Bindo Lanong, Paul Lyngdoh and Martle Mukhim.
