Shillong, Jul 3: The Kerupara Integrated Village Cooperative Society (IVCS) Ltd. marked a significant milestone by opening its first retail outlet at Ampati market. This initiative makes it the first IVCS in the district to establish its own sales outlet, paving the way for greater accessibility to local products.
The newly opened outlet will feature a diverse range of products that are manufactured and marketed by the society. This includes locally processed agricultural and food items aimed at providing consumers in Ampati with direct access to quality goods.
Founded on September 29, 2019, Kerupara IVCS has been dedicated to serving its members and neighbouring rural communities through various cooperative initiatives. Expanding into value addition in 2023, the society has started processing key farm products like cashew nuts and arecanut, as well as creating a variety of fruit-based products.
The opening of the retail outlet is a testament to the cooperative’s growth and reflects its endeavor to promote rural entrepreneurship, contributing to local economic development and employment generation. As a pioneer among integrated village cooperative societies in the district, Kerupara IVCS has set a benchmark that is likely to inspire similar ventures across the region.
