The Jaiñtia Students Union (JSU) has demanded the state government renovate the District Library and Auditorium hall in Jowai and build another library and hall for East Jaiñtia Hills.
In this regard, the pressure group met Arts and Culture Minister Sanbor Shullai to submit a memorandum on the issue.
The JSU said that Shullai assured them that the department will take up the matter. The group also said that the East Jaiñtia Hills does not have a proper hall to hold meetings and programmes and a library will benefit students.
The JSU also demanded to open the amphitheatre at the Police Reserve in Jowai as it has turned into a haven for various illicit activities.
