The Jaiñtia Students’ Movement (JSM) Western Region met with the District School Education Officer (DSEO) to apprise the department of the problems faced by successful students, who cleared the SSLC examination, in not securing admissions.
The JSM expressed concern that students in West Jaintia Hills district are not getting admissions and urged the department to upgrade the Government Boys and Girls HS School, Jowai and the Kiang Nangbah Government HS School.
It may be mentioned that while the high pass percentage in the SSLC examinations has been widely celebrated across the state, it has also presented a significant challenge for the state government insofar as accommodating the surge of students seeking admission into Class XI is concerned.
