Ronaldstone Syiem, a correspondent of the Shillong Times passed away today at Woodland Hospital, Shillong after an illness. He was 36.
A resident of Mawkhlam-Nongpyndeng, Nongstoiñ in West Khasi Hills, Syiem was one of the first to be a correspondent with the English daily since 2008. He was an active contributor to Kynjatshai and All India Radio over last 15 years.
The Shillong Press Club has condoled his demise and said Ronald has left a vacuum amongst the journalist especially amongst those in the district, who he has guided and handheld over the years cheerfully.
The Journalists Association of West Khasi Hills District has also condoled the demise of Syiem. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering dedication to truth and a passion for highlighting the stories of his community, the association said.
Syiem left behind his wife, Ba-ailang Lyngdoh Nonglait and a son. His funeral with be held on December 24 at the Nongpyndeng Presbyterian Church cemetery at 2:30 pm.
