The special session of the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) will debate on the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District (Constitution of District Council) (Amendment) Bill, 2024 tomorrow.
The bill was tabled in the House today by JHADC Chief Executive Member Thombor Shiwat in line with the proposals in the report of the delimitation committee.
JHADC Chairman Dr. Sanki Shangpung told the House that many MDCs wanted a proper discussion on the bill. He also said that tomorrow the discussion will be on the various aspects of the bill before passing it.
It may be noted that the delimitation committee has proposed the abolition of the Jowai Central Constituency and creation of Nangbah-Mihmyntdu Constituency.
The committee also reorganised most constituencies under the JHADC.
