The special session of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) will be held at Jowai tomorrow to pass the amendment bill based on the report of the delimitation committee regarding readjustment of the 29 constituencies.
The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Constitution of District Council) (Amendment) Bill 2024 will be discussed by the members at the session before taking a decision on passing it.
Already, the proposals of the delimitation committee have been strongly opposed by the majority of people during the public hearings held in Jowai, Khliehriat and Amlarem last month.
Several villagers have also threatened to boycott the upcoming JHADC election if their demand for status quo was not met.
