The Jaiñtia Coordination Committee for Reservation Policy (JCCRP) has lent its support to the Voice of the People Party (VPP) in its demand seeking review of the reservation policy and began its sit-in demonstration from Jowai today.
The committee comprises of the Synjuk Waheh Chnong Jowai, Synjuk Waheh Chnong Ri Jaiñtia, pressure groups– Jaiñtia Student Union (JSU), Jaiñtia Youth Federation (JYF), Jaiñtia Student Movement (JSM), East Jaiñtia National Council (EJNC).
Speakers at the demonstration condemned the State government and slammed the seven MLAs from the Jaiñtia Hills region for their silence on this matter. They said their representatives have forgotten that they were elected to their chairs by the people and after winning they chose to ignore and remain silent.
The organisers have planned for two more sit-in demonstrations in East Jaintia Hills District at Khliehriat on May 31 and at Amlarem Sub-Division on June 2.
