Shillong, Nov 27: The district administration of East Jaintia Hills convened a meeting today with Khliehriat MLA Kyrmen Shylla and Sutnga Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla, MDCs, members of the District Selection Committee (DSC), school principals, legal representatives and various other stakeholders to address key concerns related to DSC recruitment procedures.
The meeting followed a letter submitted by R Siangshai and Advocate K Ksoo highlighting several issues, including the display of cut-off marks, interview ratios and the need for transparent communication with candidates.
During the discussion, the committee resolved to enhance transparency in the recruitment process by publishing the qualifying or cut-off marks after the declaration of final results. It was reaffirmed that the ratio of candidates shortlisted for the personal interview round will remain at 1:2.
To ensure timely and accurate communication, the DSC will directly notify candidates about subsequent stages of recruitment through email and SMS. In a further move to promote accountability, both the provisional answer keys and the final answer keys will be uploaded on the DSC website after the conduct of examinations.
Additionally, it was decided that the DSC will explore ways to temporarily shut down internet services or use internet jammers and CCTV cameras during examinations to prevent malpractice. After the completion of the recruitment process, the marks of all candidates will be made public and uploaded on the official district website.
The attendees were reportedly satisfied with the meeting’s decisions and also suggested that similar consultations be held regularly to allow continuous feedback and improvement, a press release stated.
