Shillong, May 14: Influential leaders in technology and business today gathered at the State Convention Centre to participate in the NASSCOM Industry Leaders’ Meet to discuss the future trajectory of the industry.
During the meet, topics ranged from emerging technologies to digital transformation strategies. Leaders presented case studies that highlighted innovations in automation, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. The collaborative discussions aimed to identify opportunities for growth within the IT landscape.
The event spotlighted significant advancements and emphasised the importance of regional collaboration to support local talent. Participants noted that fostering a conducive environment for startups would generate job opportunities and create a pool of skilled professionals.
As part of the programme, an agreement signing ceremony was held between StaffFlex Resolutions LLP and the Meghalaya Technology Parks Society for the leasing of space at Shillong Technology Park–II, marking the first confirmed occupant of the facility.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma in his address highlighted that development has been a long-term process, characterised by sustained efforts and a focus on building an ecosystem that fosters growth. Reflecting on his time as IT Minister in 2008, he mentioned that the journey has spanned almost two decades, filled with challenges and milestones.
With the recent completion of the second IT park and upcoming projects in Tura, CM Sangma expressed optimism about the future of the state’s IT sector. He reinforced that meaningful outcomes take precedence over mere agreements and optics, affirming his commitment to work hand-in-hand with industry partners in achieving realistic and sustainable growth. The government is dedicated to supporting this vision, ensuring every effort is made to foster a thriving IT landscape in Meghalaya.
He stressed the role of collective responsibility and encouraged industry partners and training institutions to work together towards the common goal of strengthening the IT ecosystem. He iterated the need for collaboration among the government, stakeholders, and individuals to create a sustained impact.
The attendees were urged to understand the unfolding opportunities both nationally and globally, showcasing how Meghalaya can play a significant part in this narrative.
Industry delegates included representatives from Wipro, TaskUs, Alorica, Tech Mahindra, Infosys BPM, Achala Solutions, Concentrix, Shass Information & Quality Engineering Services, and Luminous Infoways, among others.
A key highlight of the programme was the Industry, Academia & Skilling Session, which brought together industry leaders, academic representatives, and officials from the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) to explore pathways for strengthening the talent pipeline and aligning skilling initiatives with industry requirements.
