The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places over Meghalaya on November 20 and 21.
The forecaster’s yellow warning for hail covers East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi districts tomorrow and Thursday.
The alert warns of minor damage to loose and unsecured structures, breaking of tree branches, twigs, damage to standing crops, poor visibility, traffic congestion, water logging in low lying areas and localised landslides in hilly areas.
The IMD has suggested harvest of mature fruits and crop, cover nurseries, to avoid application of fertilizers and pesticides, keeping livestock inside shed, following traffic advisories, and to avoid low lying areas, working in fields during thunderstorm, lightning and hail.
