Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma has said that the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government is using the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Promotion (IBDLP) programme a milch cow to satisfy their greed.
The IBDLP flagship program was initiated under his tenure as the chief minister, which has now transformed to Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA).
Sangma stated that when the programme was first introduced during his tenure, there was scepticism on the success of the programme. “The MDA government tried their level best to demonize the programme. The irony is that the MDA government does not have any other programme. With the number of irregularities reflected in the media reports, I was shocked to realise that they had started to use this programme as milching cow to satisfy their greed,” Sangma said.
Addressing the block committee meeting held in Mawryngkneng today the TMC leader also said that the MDA misconstrued projection about the Jal Jeevan Mission project for electoral gains.
“I was questioned how did the government receive the best performer award for JJM? Maybe the MDA government has started lying to the Government of India as well. Each time before the elections, the MDA government makes it a habit to lie to the people for electoral gains,” he stated.
The meeting was attended by TMC State President Charles Pyngrope, MLA George B. Lyngdoh, TMC leader James Lyngdoh, Banshanlang Lawai, TMC Students Union president Bansharailang Pyngrope, Youth President Fernandez S Dkhar and others.
