The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has listed four suggestions for the new executive committee in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to implement for the welfare of the indigenous community.
The organisation suggested transparency in appointments according to the Service Rules of 1961 and issuing of trading licences as per the Khasi Hills District (Trading by Non-Tribals) Regulation, 1954, along with the rules established by the council.
HYC president Roy Kupar Synrem also urged the VPP-led EC to take the preservation of forests and water sources seriously and to work in collaboration with dorbar shnong in addressing issues related to benami practices.
Additionally, Synrem called on the EC to take proactive steps to clean up the Umkhrah and Umshyrpi rivers, and other streams and rivers that are facing threats of pollution.
