The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC), Shella area unit has sought immediate construction of a 6 km road from Saikarap to Shella within a week with a warning that they would carry out a public protest to demand withdrawal of funds from the Special Purpose Vehicle Society.
According to the HYC, the final work order for construction of the road was given to M/s Dhar Construction Company, Demseiniong on September 30, 2021.
The organisation has also written to Executive Engineer PWD (Roads), Sohra Division asking the office to direct the company to begin construction of the dilapidate road to ease commuters.
HYC unit general secretary Seiborlang Diengdoh said that the office should also inform the Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads) to take action against the company as per the agreement.
