Shillong, Oct 2: Posters mocking Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Syiem were found pasted on walls and fences at Mawkhar DSEO office, Synod Complex and Motphran here on Friday.
Posters were also found on the walls of shops in the Motphran area, on the edge of the monument in Motphran, and in the area near the statue of a pressure group leader.
The posters featured a picture of a man standing near an ATM, appearing to be withdrawing money and the words “Normal People ATM” written on it.
Next to that are photographs of the SP and the Deputy CM with the words “Vivek Syiem Aka Blue Eye Boy” and “Prestone Tyrkhong ATM”.
In the background is a policeman climbing a truck asking for money and there is also an inscription under the photograph of Tynsong saying, “I understand how to make money, the trucks have come”.
Shortly after the photos and videos went viral about the presence of posters with the images of Tynsong and Syiem, these were removed.
According to the public, police and CRPF came to the spot and took the posters away.
The posters follow a viral AI-generated video where Tynsong and Syiem were portrayed as enjoying the fruits of ill-gotten gain. The subject gained prominence on September 30 when the Khasi Students Union (KSU) produced video evidence of police personnel extorting money from truckers in Mawkhanu and Thangshalai.
Yesterday Syiem said that four policemen have been suspended and an officer transferred from Diengpasoh police station over the allegations and an inquiry has been constituted.
