Home Guards deputed to manage traffic in Tura have appealed to the Chief Minister for their salaries, which have not been paid for the past four months.
In a letter sent through the A’chik Progressive Approach, the Home Guards, some 300 of them, said that they cannot afford basic necessities because of the problem in their remuneration.
They added that their counterparts in Khasi Hills “receive their remuneration regularly” and, thus, they in Garo Hills are feeling “discriminated against and neglected”, “discouraged and demoralised” and may have to seek alternative work if the issue persists.
