The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) lashed out at senior advocate VGK Kynta, who recently joined the BJP, for his comment that regional parties swim in “small ponds”.
Kynta said this to explain why he picked the BJP over other parties.
The HSPDP Youth Wing reminded Kynta that it was the regional parties that delivered statehood to Meghalaya.
“Kynta is a well-educated person but we would like to say about the contribution of the HSPDP and that without the regional parties we would not have got our own state to date,” the party leaders said.
Stating that in its 50 years journey the HSPDP as a political party has given its good service and stands by its principles, Sandondor Ryntathiang, president of the HSPDP youth wing, said, “It doesn’t matter if some are saying that regional parties end only in Khanapara or are swimming in muddy ponds but what is more stirring is that in the near future people will see the flag of the HSPDP party with the lion symbol waving in New Delhi.”
“I consider all the regional parties in the MDA to be political parties swimming in small muddy ponds but, at the end of the day, we have to depend on the mother in the centre, which is run by the BJP,” Kynta had stated as he joined the saffron party.
