Given the increase in Covid-19 cases in the state, Ka Sur U Paidbah ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (KSUP) has petitioned the Chief Minister today to end the practice of home quarantine.
Instead, government quarantine centres and community quarantine centres should be revived at the village and locality level to contain the further spread of the coronavirus, KSUP told Conrad Sangma.
The group also made other suggestions and demands, including for the provision of free treatment to Covid-19 patients, free Covid tests, permission for transportation of construction materials, financial assistance provision to domestic workers, commercial vehicle drivers, et al. KSUP also asked the government to reconsider the closure of non-essential shops and businesses in East Khasi Hills, which has been the case since the start of the latest lockdown.
