Peeved over the recent agreement signed by the state government for handing the management of health sub-centres to HANS Foundation, a registered charitable trust, members of the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) met the District Medical and Health Officer of Ri-Bhoi to seek information regarding the handing over 15 sub-centres to HANS.
According to HITO, the sub-centres that are to be run by HANS are those under Mawlasnai, Mawhati, Umden, Byrnihat, Patharkhmah, Umsning and Kyrdem.
Speaking to reporters, HITO’s Apborlang Nongrum said that the organisation is shocked that the agreement was signed with HANS without a public hearing or announcement.
The DMHO assured the pressure group that the agreement will be beneficial to the general public but HITO still wanted the deal to be made public.
