Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator and Health Minister AL Hek today appeared to reverse his position on the demand of state party President Ernest Mawrie for the resignation of Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui following the death of six labourers at a mine in East Jaiñtia Hills last week.
A few days ago Hek had backed Mawrie’s demand for Rymbui’s resignation for failing to control illegal coal mining but appeared to change tack today.
The other BJP MLA, Sanbor Shullai, had gone against Mawrie in backing Rymbui to remain in the job.
Today Hek stated that there is no friction in the saffron party despite all these apparent, and public, disagreements.
“This is the opinion of my colleague Sanbor Shullai and I appreciate him and Earnest Mawrie also has his own opinion but any allegations should come forth with proof,” Hek said.
