Heavy rains are having a negative effect on the city’s already awful traffic, with the wet weather being blamed for sluggish traffic by East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Rituraj Ravi.
“We are making all efforts. We have deployed more personnel to ensure that we are able to sort this out so that there is smooth flow of traffic,” Ravi said today.
Due to rains in the city recently bumper-to-bumper jams hit the busiest junctions, including Police Bazaar, Dhankheti, Lower Lachumiere, Don Bosco Square, etc.
Despite the recent introduction of new traffic arrangements in Shillong by the police to help ease traffic congestion, there seems to be little progress in dealing with the issue of traffic clogging in the state capital, especially during rainy days.
