Governor Brig BD Mishra (retd) has conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Meghalaya on the occasion of Diwali.
In a press release, he expressed a hope that the festival will usher in peace, prosperity and joy in the state.
Stating that Diwali, the festival of lights, inspires us to move from darkness to light and symbolises triumph of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance, the Governor called for the promotion of amity and brotherhood in society.
Brig Mishra also stressed on the importance of a pollution-free Diwali and urged people to shun the use of loud firecrackers to minimise noise pollution and the emission of poisonous gases. Following the Centre’s guidance for ‘Swachh Bharat’, we must, this Diwali, ensure ‘Shant Bharat’ as well, the Governor appealed in his message.
