Meghalaya saw a drop in GST collections in the month of May this year as compared to the same month last year.
Figures provided by the Finance Ministry showed that in May this year, Meghalaya collected Rs 172 crore of GST revenue as compared to Rs 214 crore in May last year.
As such the decline of GST collection in the State in May this year was 20 per cent.
The pre-settlement of State GST in May this year was only Rs 52 crore as compared to Rs 56 crore in May last year. This was a decline of 7 per cent.
The post-settlement of State GST in May this year was Rs 154 crore whereas in May last year it was Rs 158. Thus the decline was 3 per cent.
