The additional general secretary of the Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) was invited as a special guest to the ongoing 49th Karbi Youth Festival.
“I’m proud to be on the same platform with the Karbi people in our struggle for separate states of our own,” Bostone M Sangma said in a release today. “Having fully understood the birthright of the Karbi tribe, the GSMC wholeheartedly supports your genuine demand for the creation of a Karbi Anglong state.”
Karbi Anglong is currently a part of Assam. The GSMC is itself campaigning for a division of Meghalaya into separate Garo and Khasi-Jaintia states.
