The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) has written to the state government over its concerns regarding nearly 300 Bangladeshi nationals who have entered Garo Hills during the troubles in the neighbouring country.
In a letter, the GSMC said that around 280 Bangladeshis have entered Meghalaya illegally and must not be allowed to settle permanently.
The GSMC noted that Bangladesh is undergoing a period of strife at present but the state government must send the foreigners back “at the end of the violence”.
