The Chief Engineer in the Public Health Engineering Department has informed that the laying of the gravity mainline of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme (Phase III) has been completed and the process of testing and commissioning of the newly laid gravity manline is ongoing.
The Chief Engineer also stated that, during this period, there may be variation in water quantity and quality, such as temporary discoloration, etc through the newly laid gravity mainline to Shillong city and its adjoining areas.
This temporary inconvenience is essential for the commissioning of the mainline and every attempt shall be made to the extent possible to supply clean and reliable water to the public at the earliest, added the Chief Engineer.
