The state government will examine the possibility of passing a resolution in the Assembly to categorically rule out uranium mining in Meghalaya.
“We have not examined that aspect yet but we will take the necessary steps,” Sangma said today.
Meanwhile, on the issue of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) and inclusion of the Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, the CM said, that the Assembly has passed resolutions on these two matters but that there are other processes to follow, especially on the part of the central government.
“Because the ball is entirely in the court of the central government now, we are pursuing with them and we need to continue lobbying and working with the government of India on both matters,” he added.
