The State government will bail out unpaid employees of the district councils.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters today that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is expected to make a statement in the House on the pending salaries of the employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
“There are questions and motions (on the issue) during the current session, the CM will say something about it,” Tynsong he said.
Tynsong, who is in charge of the district council affairs department, said that the government is also working out on the salaries of the employees of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
On royalty collected by the district councils, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “It is not necessary that every financial year ending you need to clear it (royalty) all. Depending upon the collection and after deduction and adjustment here and there, the rest will be released to the respective district councils,” he said.
The salaries of the staff of the GHADC have been pending for 30 months while those in the JHADC for about 10 months.
