The Directorate of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) has issued a show cause notice to Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Jowai, for allowing students to play a song belonging to a particular political party during Teachers Day celebration.
The DSEL stated that the act is against the Govt conduct rules.
The notice was signed by DSEL Director, Swapnil Tembe has directed the Principal to show cause as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for the act of negligence.
Reportedly, the students were dancing to the tune of the Voice of the People Party campaign song, “Kongdeng Kongnah Ha U Prah,” that was considered an ear-worm song, ever since it was released before the Assembly elections.
The song is said to remain popular in the Khasi-Jaiñtia region as videos of people dancing in picnics and weddings and even school and colleges events to the tune of the campaign song, have so far gone viral.
