Inquiry reports into the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd (MeECL) and public distribution rice will be made available to all MLAs, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed today.
During the recently-concluded Assembly session, members of the opposition asked for these reports to be laid before the house, as had been done with the report into the Cheristerfield Thangkhiew killing.
However, the government argued that the MeECL and ‘rice scam’ inquiries were different to that of the Thangkhiew probe and there was no statutory requirement for their reports to be made public.
Tynsong today, however, said that the demand will be met by the government and the Political Department will arrange for the dissemination of the reports with the MLAs.
