The Achik Organisation for Social Welfare (AOSW) has said that some government departments in the Garo Hills are brazenly flouting the obligatory norm of proactively disclosing information as per the Right to Information Act 2005.
General Secretary of the organisation, Premiar N. Sangma in a statement here today said that most of the departments have refused or given slipshod answers to applications filed under the act.
“Most of the government doesn’t abide by the parliamentary enacted neither they respect the spirit of democracy. I have not received proper reply to my request information in many of the government departments nor they set out the state Information commissioner to take legal action against those abridged officers or departments even after repeated applications were submitted to the state Information commissioner.”
Sangma said the organisation will take up the issue to the court.
