The voters of Gambegre were “intelligent” enough to elect the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate in the recent by-poll, Rambrai-Jyrngam MDC Bajop Pyngrope said today.
“The NPP win in Gambegre is because the people are intelligent and they voted in favor of our candidate (Mehtab Chandee) and the ruling party,” he said.
On the accusations made against the NPP of using money power and government machinery to win the by-election, Pyngrope said it is only natural for losing parties to come up with such desperate charges.
“The fact was that the people of Gambegre voted in favour of our candidate and she won with a decent margin. And if the Congress Party talks about the use of money power, then it is the Congress and the TMC (Trinamool Congress), who have hundreds of MPs in the entire country, unlike the NPP, and they have money power but failed to dupe the constituents,” he added.
