The San Shnong Secondary School Futsal Football Ground was inaugurated today at Mukhaialong under Wapung C&RD Block funded under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Fund.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh, Cabinet Minister and Khliehriat MLA, Kyrmen Shylla, Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein, Deputy CEM of Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), Lasky Rymbai, Block Development Officer, Wapung C&RD Block, Dr T. Shylla, traditional heads of San Shnong area, teachers, students and people of the area were present on the occasion.
In his speech Lyngdoh highlighted the commitment of the government in bringing various developmental projects in the state across various sectors including sports, tourism, etc, with Meghalaya set to host the National Games scheduled to be held in 2027.
The minister encouraged the youth of the district to enthusiastically participate in sports activities and lauded the Chief Minister for the vision of promoting Meghalaya as the football capital of India in addition to its accolade of being the music capital of the Country.
He also informed the gathering on various initiatives undertaken by the government to promote sports in the state including creation of sports infrastructures and financial support extended to football clubs.
Shylla lauded the initiatives of the San Shnong Welfare Association in promoting tourism in the area even as he emphasised on the importance of collaborative efforts in bringing various developmental initiatives in the district.
He also highlighted to the gathering the different initiatives undertaken through the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Trust in several areas of development including creation of sports infrastructures like Futsal Grounds and others.
