Three more people have been arrested so far in connection with the IED blast in Laitumkhrah market on August 10.
With the arrest of three more persons, including a surrendered Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) militant, the total number of arrested persons has gone up to four, police said today.
The arrested trio are identified as Kitbok Sohklet alias Franko, a surrendered HNLC militant, Sufiyan Ali Hazarika alias Manbalang Jyrwa and Gary S Myrboh.
Police sources said Jyrwa was also arrested in 2013 for his connection with the HNLC and he was responsible for editing and publishing articles and propaganda of the outfit on several facebook pages.
Earlier, police had arrested Tenzing Khonglah, an HNLC harbourer for his alleged involvement in the blast.
Police said all the arrested were involved in the blast. “We are still interrogating them,” a police said refusing to divulge details on the status of the investigation.
Former HNLC General Secretary, Cherishterfield Thangkhiew, who was the prime accused in the IED blast, was killed by the police during a raid at his residence on August 13.
