Nongpoh, Oct 18: With an aim to promote and encourage talented youth in football, as well as to raise awareness on the harmful effects of substance abuse, particularly drug addiction, the Umsning People’s Front (UPF) has decided to organize a football tournament titled the “UPF Super Cup Football Tournament.”
The event will be held at the Umran Niangbyrnai Football Ground.
UPF General Secretary Kitdorius Dkhar said the tournament will provide a platform for talented football players from various villages within the Umsning constituency.
He informed that the tournament will kick off on October 22, 2025. The UPF expressed hope that football teams from different villages will come forward to participate, making the tournament a successful and beneficial event for the youth.
The champion team will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 for the runner up.
UPF representatives appealed to all football teams to take part in this tournament, emphasising that their participation will not only help showcase young talent but also serve as an important message against drug abuse and other harmful habits that threaten the wellbeing of society.
Additionally, the UPF will also organise a ‘Youth Soccer Camp’ starting from October 25 at Gracia Futsal Turf, Maryland Umsaw Nongkharai for both boys and girls aged 5 to 19 years, to identify and nurture young football talents from the region.
