Shillong, Oct 18: East Khasi Hills district emerged as the overall champions of the first annual sports meet of the National Health Mission Employees Association (NHM), which concluded at the Nongkseh Sports Ground today.
The event was organised under the theme, “Wellness through Sports, Service through Health,” celebrating community and sportsmanship among healthcare professionals.
The sports meet featured various disciplines, including football, basketball, badminton, and tug of war. East Khasi Hills District emerged as the overall champions, showcasing exceptional teamwork and skill.
Mylliem MLA Ronnie V. Lyngdoh and Daniel M. Thangkhiew, Political Secretary and OSD to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya attended the closing ceremony as guests.
Lyngdoh emphasised the importance of sports in bringing out the child in every individual and hoped that the event would become more enthusiastic and productive in the future.
Thangkhiew expressed gratitude to NHM for organizing the sports meet in Nongkseh and praised the team spirit and discipline displayed during the event.
Mawlong congratulated NHM staff for organising the exciting sports meet, highlighting the importance of physical activity in reducing non-communicable diseases and building mental health.
Ibamonlang Nongbri, State Program Manager, NHM, Meghalaya, expressed gratitude to everyone and urged them to continue doing good work.
The event concluded with a promise to return next year, continuing the tradition of celebrating health, service, and sportsmanship.
