The FKJGP Nongdisong Mawiawa unit in West Khasi Hills district has expressed serious concern over the incident at Nongdisong village in Mawliehbah area where a 90-year-old man identified as Morris Marngar hailing from Mawnar village was buried alive by his own nephews on October 7 for his alleged involvement in witchcraft.
“We strongly condemn this barbaric act which is not acceptable in this generation especially in our community,” the FKJGP Nongdisong Mawiawa unit said in a statement.
The organisation also expressed displeasure with the comments on the incident made by some people in social media which have defamed the village and the area as a whole.
“We urge everyone to avoid blaming, commenting or posting anything that will hurt the sentiments of the people of Nongdisong or Mawliehbah area as only a few people are involved in this criminal act and not all the villagers of the area,” the FKJGP unit said.
The FKJGP Nongdisong Mawiawa unit also conveyed its condolences to the family members of Moris Marngar.
