The Office of the District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills District Shillong today launched the final publication of the photo electoral rolls at a function held at the conference room of the East Khasi Hills DC office.
The photo electoral rolls were prepared with reference to January 1 as the qualifying date.
A total of 15 constituency electoral rolls were presented during the event, with the significant exclusion of Sohra Civil Sub-Division from East Khasi Hills. This move is deemed pivotal in the electoral preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election.
District Election Officer Rosette M. Kurbah acknowledged the exceptional women’s enrolment and participation in the Mawlai and Mylliem constituencies. She lauded the efforts and dedication of all the officers, Enumerators and BLOs to ensure accurate and comprehensive electoral rolls.
She also distributed CDs containing the latest final photo electoral rolls to political parties, facilitating their access to updated information. The event underscored a collaborative effort among election officials, political parties, and local authorities to ensure transparency and inclusivity in the electoral process.
In Ri Bhoi district, a similar function was held which was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner B.K Ranee in the presence of AEROs, representatives from various recognized political parties, and other dignitaries.
Ranee handed over the Final Publication of the Electoral Roll to representatives from different political parties, including INC, UDP, VPP, NPP, and others.
She also urged eligible citizens who have reached the age of 18 to enroll themselves for the Electronic Photo Identity Card (EPIC).
In West Jaiñtia Hills, the final electoral rolls for Nartiang, Jowai, Raliang and Mowkaiaw were distributed to the representatives of the political parties today by District Election Officer Batlang S Sohliya.
1- Nartiang (ST) has 45,375 voters out of which include 22,328 male voters and 23,047 female voters, Jowai with 41,345 which include 19,464 male and female voters 21,881. In Raliang the total number of voters is 40,019 which include 19,001male voters and female voters 21,018 and in Mowkaiaw 39, 669 voters which include 19,624 male voters and 20,045 female voters.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Registration Officer of 35-Ranikor (ST) Assembly Constituency and 36-Mawkyrwat (ST) Assembly Constituency has informed that the list of amendments to the draft electoral roll has been prepared.
A copy of the electoral roll together with the said list of amendments has been published and will be available for inspection at the office.
