Shillong, Nov 29: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Garo Hills conducted a five-day skill development training programme on indoor mushroom production technology with special emphasis on Oyster and Paddy Straw Mushroom.
The training programme, which concluded yesterday, was attended by 40 farmers from five villages in West Garo Hills.
Lectures on relevant topics of mushroom cultivation along with practical demonstration were successfully conducted by scientific staff of KVK, Tura. Farmers were taken for an exposure visit to Regional Centre for Training and Production of Mushrooms in Sangsanggre to enhance their knowledge on spawn production.
Farmers were also assessed pre and post training to evaluate the quality and impact of the training received by them.
Certificates as well as basic inputs like spawn, HDPE bags, Dettol, cotton and plastic roll were distributed to the farmers to support and encourage them in mushroom cultivation.
