The 193rd Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya foiled an attempt to smuggle eyewear and footwear into Bangladesh yesterday.
The items seized have been valued at Rs 11 lakh, the BSF said in a press release today, and were seized on the East Khasi Hills side of the international border.
On being challenged by the BSF, the smugglers fled from the spot taking advantage of inclement weather and darkness. The seized items were handed over to the Customs office in Dangar for further action.
