East Jaiñtia Hills police today exhumed the body of three coal miners suspected to have died in a ‘hidden’ tragedy inside an illegal mine in Rymbai on January 9.
The police dug up their graves in Musniang village to retrieve the body today. Their post-mortem will be conducted at NEIGRIHMS tomorrow to ascertain the cause of death, police said.
Police have not provided their names but sources said they are Ten Siangshai and two from the Dkhar clan.
East Jaiñtia Hills Superintendent of Police, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said permission was granted by the district court as the persons died under “mysterious circumstances.”
Highland Post had reported the death of the three coal mine workers on January 10. Police also took up suo moto case on the death and the next day investigation was launched.
