Shillong, Oct 12: The Synjuk Waheh Shnong East Jaintia Hills District has written to Health and Family Welfare Minister Wailadmiki Shylla to request an improvement in the healthcare services in the district.
According to the association of headmen, Khliehriat Civil Hospital requires specialists, including obstetrician and gynecologists, anesthesiologists, surgeons, psychiatrists, orthopedic doctors, ENT specialists and ophthalmologists.
Sutnga Community Health Centre requires a first referral unit (FRU) and repairs to its staff quarters. The synjuk also told the new minister that most health sub-centres in the district do not have water supply and/or electricity connections. Specifically, Maullian sub-centre needs a transformer for its electricity supply, while Saipung Primary Health Centre and sub-centres need attention given to road conditions where they are located.
