Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has directed the Education Department to study a proposal submitted to the government by the Mumbai-based Ampersand Group to help the state bridge the gap between the needs and the reality of its information and communication technology infrastructure.
Sangma had held a virtual meeting with Ampersand representatives on November 2 and instructed the Education Department to take the discussions with the firm forwards, Ampersand said in a press release today.
Other issues that need to be addressed in Meghalaya include “untrained staff, low quality of learning outcomes and urban-rural disparity”.
The press release also said that Sangma wants to transform nearly 6,000 anganwadi centres in the state into “centres of joyful learning”, which will aim to make first generation learners in rural areas prepared to enter primary school when they come of age.
