In keeping with the recommendation of a high-level committee, the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate has reinstated curfew from 10pm to 5am with effect from today.
It was only on March 26 that East Khasi Hills moved the start of the daily curfew to 12 midnight. However, because of rising Covid numbers in the state and in the rest of the country, it was recommended that curfew begin earlier to forestall the spread of the virus.
The District Magistrate also directed all shops, establishments, restaurants and bars to shut down by 9pm, or as per timing issued vide existing order, whichever is earlier.
