Shillong, Jun 14: A man and a woman were found dead in a shed at Nongthymmai Jingkieng Lumsohphoh on Sunday morning, police said.
They were subsequently identified as Pronome Hajong (22) from Balat and Semanto Hajong (21) from Ranikor, both in South West Khasi Hills.
Personnel from Laitumkhrah Police Station rushed to the spot after locals alerted them early in the day. A rope was reportedly found around the necks of both individuals, police added.
Police said it is still unclear whether the deaths were due to foul play or suicide. The bodies were then sent for post-mortem examination.
