Shillong, Nov 5: The office of the District School Education Officer (DSEO), West Jaintia Hills held a meeting with the heads of all government and government-aided schools in the district at the Mynthong Community Hall, Jowai to discuss the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for the distribution of question papers for Classes VI to IX.
District School Education Officer Wa-i-sa Sumer informed that the final/promotional examination question papers for core subjects (including English, MIL, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science) for Classes VI-IX will be prepared centrally by the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT). These question papers will be uniform and identical for all schools in Meghalaya.
The DSEO emphasised that the centralised process, which involves the secure dissemination of soft copies through official channels like the DSEO office, is a direct strategy to ensure uniformity, accuracy, efficiency, and security.
Sumer urged the heads of schools to welcome this “progressive step” with optimism and full commitment. She stated that the reform is not just for administrative convenience but for the fundamental improvement of academic standards. The new, unified system will tremendously improve coordination, boost efficiency, and elevate the overall quality and credibility of the examination process for every student in Meghalaya.
The DSEO urged all schools to diligently follow the SOPs and embrace the new system.
